The impetus for this website was, first of all, my experience as a “victim” of a romance scam and the book I’ve written as a result, to try to explain and make sense of it all. It is a strange and convoluted story, certainly worth the telling, and, hopefully, one you will enjoy reading.
More recently, (January 2021), I’ve decided that I want to use this site for God’s purposes, and my book, though still valuable as my account of the difficult experience I went through in 2018 and a testimony to God’s faithfulness, has become secondary to the other things I want to share on this blog.

On the surface, this book is about what is called a romance scam. But, after having gone through the experience, I say that there is much more to it than just a scam. The many lessons I’m learning about myself and about God, make this unscheduled journey much more significant—life changing, in fact, on many levels.
In the book, I set the scene with my narrative, then the scenario plays out, day-by-day, in the actual words exchanged and the written record of my thoughts at the time and as events moved forward in time.
It’s a love story. In more ways than one.
It’s intimate and embarrassing, but what happened is true.
The book is written, in a way, as a record of the event.
It is a compilation of emails—his and mine, my journal writings, along with some of our more important text messages, and my recounting of a few phone conversations, all knit together to tell the story.
Included also are copies of documents: things he sent me, electronically, as well as one singular, physical item. Props, I guess you could call them. I call them evidence. And the pictures. Don’t forget his pictures.
When you read the emails and journal entries, one right after another, the sense of time is compressed. What the reader reads in a few minutes or hours is actually days, weeks and months passing. Plus, you already know at the outset what it took me quite a while to figure out…and I wasn’t sure until…
But here’s how the story began…
On June 26 of 2018, I met a man online through the dating site, ourtime.com. An interesting man, I thought…PortOregon1 was his screen name…he called himself Wright Walker.
Ensuing circumstances, as well as the cunning ploy itself, then conspired to disguise anything that would arouse my suspicion until it was too late. I, being who I am, quickly fell in love with the man…well, the persona he presented to me, anyway.
Of course, that’s how the plan—the snare—was supposed to work!
Six months passed of nearly daily interaction with him before I finally discovered one fact that changed everything. And is it a surprise!
