Just because he turned out to be a liar and a thief doesn’t negate the love she gave him. He wasn’t a figment of her imagination, he was someone. Whether he really received her love, we may never know. But it was freely given. 

The ironic thing is she loved him because she thought he loved her. But love is not dependent on reciprocation. The love she gave him is not diminished because he may have not been able to receive it. She felt it, she gave it, she couldn’t help it. It is her nature.

In fact, God loves us whether we love Him or not. He keeps hoping we will awaken to His Love…and reciprocate, but He loves us unconditionally and eternally, regardless.
